Let the games begin.. the bit before the wedding!
I met the wonderful Emma up in a beautiful apartment room in Ace Hotel in Shoreditch. Her friends had decorated with a few home comforts and they were all getting ready as I walked in. In the meantime, I had a little explore and took a step out onto the balcony to take in the incredible view over the city.
Emma got into her Red Tea Ceremony outfit first (paired with Pikachu socks and red converse of course – what a legend!). Her best friends were on Skype from America and the girls prepared the Grooms Door Games. When Louis and his groomsmen were ready they headed up to Emma’s room. Emma and her father were kept out of the way. Meanwhile Louis and his groomsmen completed some hilarious tasks in order to gain the respect and trust of Emma’s bridesmaids. I loved that they had fun with this, the tasks were brilliant! When they were happy that Louis had shown just how serious he was, Emma and her father came out to join in the Tea Ceremonies. This was literally so much fun to photograph, I can only imagine how much fun it was to take part!!!
The Ceremony on the top floor of the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch
Louise headed up to the ceremony room to do some last minute finishing touches. Emma got changed into her STUNNING custom designed Candy Anthony knee length wedding dress. And oh my goodness what a beauty, Emma said she was really struggling to find something she felt comfortable in and they helped her design the dress of her dreams. How freaking amazing is that?!?! Their ceremony was on the top floor of the Ace Hotel and they had made origami cranes to hang across the windows. It looked SOOOO good and with the added touch of their names in balloons!!!
Their ceremony was honestly a breath of fresh air. Really personal and even had with readings taken from Friends!!! They really made the ceremony total them, which I believe is so so important when planning a wedding. They had a first kiss AND a first hi-five… I mean!!! <3
After their ceremony they headed straight out into the bar. They hugged every single person as they left their ceremony room. There were drinks, bubbles, family photos followed by awesome informal speeches. Can you tell I loved this wedding so much!?!
Onto the Chinese Wedding Banquet
Emma and Louis’s guests piled into the iconic London Double Decker Bus and headed to Yi-Ban Chinese Restaurant on the Docks in London. Once Emma had got back into her Chinese Wedding suit and they continued the Chinese Tea Ceremonies with all their guests. They received presents, kind (and emotional) words from all the important people in both of their families. Followed by 8 courses of food! They both took the time to go and talk to every single table. Followed by cheersing each and every single person.
How to involve everyone in your wedding day
Although their wedding had been a very family orientated day, celebrating with their nearest and dearest. They wanted to find a way to celebrate with their closest friends too. They prepared take-out and a SUPER SECRET KARAOKE for their friends in the back room and went between the two parties!!! Louis got changed into his traditional chinese wedding suit and they cut their cake. Just as I was due to leave the sun was setting and had created the most gorgeous pinky-purple sunset, so obviously I had to get them outside.
“ The photos are absolutely amazing. Thank you so much. You captured all the colourfulness so perfectly. It’s exactly what we wanted and everyone is very impressed. Thank you thank you thank you!!! ”
